The Castaic Area Multi-Use Trails Plan Study Area encompasses 50,000 acres in the northwestern unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. Technical reports are being developed to evaluate existing conditions and trail planning issues. Inventory and evaluation of gaps in existing trail routes, access to points of interest, and potential connections to regional trails and greenways in consideration of property ownership and sensitive resources was performed as part of the Trails Plan.
The Trails Plan will guide future trail development in the northwestern portion of the Santa Clarita Valley. The Trails Plan will promote and encourage safe and enjoyable multi-use recreational trails opportunities for pedestrians, mountain bicyclists, and equestrians as defined by County policy. The plan identified connections to existing local, state, regional, and national trail systems, as well as existing trails, future trails, trailheads, and points of interest.
